Magic
It's time to talk about the big M word.
Two years ago in July I went to New York to visit my family. I went there with only one purpose: to meet my half sister whom I only found out about when I was 12. I had never met her before and had talked to her on the phone just twice. She is several years older and has one surviving twin daughter.
My immediate family wasn't very supportive of my wanting to this, but I felt very strongly about connecting with her.
I decided to make a long weekend of it. My Aunt Lucia and I even made plans to go to LilyDale and have readings done. LilyDale is the largest clairvoyant community in America, and it is magical. The people who live there are all registered tested mediums, so they have to be really good. (A medium is someone who can communicate with loved ones who have passed.)
I was so excited to spend a day with my aunt, just us girls, and share this experience. My aunt is also my godmother. A godmother is someone who takes care of you if your parents die and who has a responsibility to guide you on your spiritual path as well. Kind of ironic, now that I think about it. So we sat on the front porch of John White’s house waiting for our one-hour readings, and I was going first.
I took my shoes off at the door when he welcomed me in. He was a very sweet and nurturing man in his mid-60s. We sat in a small room when he pushed Record on an old-school voice recorder. The first thing he said to me blew my mind. He said, "I see a blue star in the center of your forehead. I don't know if you know this yet, but you're a Medium." I had a wave of emotion come over me that was both calm recognition and anticipatory excitement. He told me inspiring things about mediumship, work, and finding my soulmate/twinflame.
I had gone into this reading with a question in my mind. I kind of wondered if I was a medium and if it was genetically passed down from my paternal grandmother. I had heard many stories of my Nana's spot-on intuition. At the end of my reading, John smiled at me and said, “Honey, you are surrounded by all of your loved ones; they are crowded around you; they want you to know that this is genetically passed down to you. You don't have to do this, but they support you and really hope you do!"
Yep, that happened. I played my tape as soon as we got back to my dad’s house for my dad and aunt.
I did end up meeting my half sister that weekend. She didn't look anything like me or my siblings. In fact, she looked exactly like my grandmother: fair skin, round face, young personality, and she confirmed the heartbreaking story my dad had shared. A story of two kids in love having a baby and getting married. Once the baby was born they were torn apart like Romeo and Juliet, one allegedly not having been good enough for the other. Thank god (and screenwriters) the show "Sopranos" made Italian gagsters seem cool, or I might be out of luck!
From the moment I returned home, I searched for a mentor to help me develop this gift. It was not an easy road being turned down by every medium I asked for help. In February 2015 I found my mentor, Suzanne. She is so wonderful with helping me fly. I worked with her one on one and then was asked to be part of a mediumship development circle she was putting together. I meet with my circle every Monday evening, when we practice giving messages to one another. We like to give concrete evidence-based facts that tie the spirit to the person we are reading for.
This past Saturday after I worked at the salon, I went to the Intuitive Connection (my mentor Suzanne's business, a spiritual development center). She was holding a Psychic Fair all day Saturday. I went there to practice giving readings. I sat a table in the waiting room and gave about five or six readings to different women. Let me tell you the facts that flew out of mouth blew my mind and theirs. I could tell because I had few people in tears. One woman came up to me when she was leaving and asked me if I did home group readings. She said she was really impressed and wanted me to channel for her and her friends!
I'm starting to believe in myself. It's been emotional because I've wanted this for so long. I finally feel confidant enough to talk about it and call myself a medium. This is who I am, and I'm very proud. I have a huge open heart, and I have a gift to channel, with divine guidance, loved ones who have passed. Ever since I was a little girl, I remember saying that all I want to do is take away everyone's pain. I believe this is only the beginning of that.
On Saturday May 30th, from 6:30-8:30, the Intuitive Connection is having an event at the Sanctuary on Baxter. We are doing a full two hours of Mediumship awareness and messages. I am the Chairperson for the event and will be on the Microphone guiding you through this powerful experience. I will also be on stage giving messages to the audience along with several other really good mediums.
This has actually been a dream of mine for a long time. I would love for you to be there to see my dream come true, and I would love to give you messages from your loved ones.
Magic is all around you. You just have to open your eyes to it.
