Good Luck or Bad Luck?

I’m on the plane heading across the pond, and back to the US. I traveled to England to visit Craig’s family.

In life there are things we know are real and yet, we don't see them. Like energy for instance. We know energy is real but most of us cant see it with our bare eyes. The spirit world is very similar. Most people cant see it, yet they will confess to having unexplainable spiritual experience. I talk about this comparison to show you that energy is happening all around you all the time and so is the spirit world. Just because you cant see it doesn't mean it’s not there. Energy and spirit is always behind the scenes giving life to all of us and the Universe.

I have always been a firm believer in everything happens for a reason and in divine timing. That statement is all about trust. I trust that god (lower case “g” seems less abrasive) will always lead me in the right direction to learn, grow, and heal myself and others.

I did hair and makeup for a television show on the FoodNetwork called Southern At Heart. We had 5 amazing seasons and I found out right before Christmas that the 6th season wouldn't be filmed. I was heart broken but knew that everything is in perfect flow. At the same time I was struggling with scheduling my mentoring sessions with the woman I met in England. The best Medium in the world only does mentoring Tuesday-Thursday at 1pm, which really doesn't work with my busy real life work schedule. So I had no choice but to ask for a refund. I had prepaid for a whole year. Second disappointment. Keeping my chin up I knew it would all be okay.

Craig had asked me to go to England with him for his grandmothers 90th Birthday and I didn't think I would be able to go. I usually film in February and August for the TV show, but now, my February was suddenly free. Interestingly enough I just received a refund from my non-existent mentoring sessions and had the extra money. Everything seemed to be falling into place.

This reminds me of story I heard a long time ago, I looked it up and pasted it below.

There is a Chinese story of a farmer who used an old horse to till his fields. One day, the horse escaped into the hills and when the farmer's neighbors sympathized with the old man over his bad luck, the farmer replied, "Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?" A week later, the horse returned with a herd of horses from the hills and this time the neighbors congratulated the farmer on his good luck. His reply was, "Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?"

Then, when the farmer's son was attempting to tame one of the wild horses, he fell off its back and broke his leg. Everyone thought this very bad luck. Not the farmer, whose only reaction was, "Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?"

Some weeks later, the army marched into the village and conscripted every able-bodied youth they found there. When they saw the farmer's son with his broken leg, they let him off. Now was that good luck or bad luck?

Who knows?

Everything that seems on the surface to be an evil may be a good in disguise. And everything that seems good on the surface may really be an evil. So we are wise when we leave it to God to decide what is good fortune and what misfortune, and thank him that all things turn out for good with those who love him.

I really have learned the essence of this story throughout my life. It takes all the stress away when unexpected thing jump in front of my face.

Craig and I had the most epic traveling home story ever…EVER! Don't worry my next post I will tell you all about my magical trip. The East coast had heavy winds and up north had snow. All flights were delayed, delayed, delayed, then canceled. It took me 42-44 hours to get home from England and I slept 3 hours. It was very tiring to say the least. Silvering or Good luck, bad luck, was that Craig and I got to see how we handle stressful situations together as a couple. He was amazing and I stayed pretty damn chipper. I was just happy to be together. Every bump we came to in our journey home we looked at it and proceeded through to the next available route. In our long distance relationship that was something we both needed to see and to know that we could work together as a team. It was amazing. I miss him already.
